This video is a third party evaluation of the magazine by Sara and Jevan, who I chose specifically because they are in the age of my target audience and also I can get a view on a male and female's prospective.

After I asked for a rating and received an overall score of 8/10 from Jevan and 9/10 from Sara.

Magazine Plan Research and Evaluation

Select 'Menu' to view slide show in full screen or to download.

For the past week I have been working on my contents page. I decided not to add more people in my contents page and used the images I had taken previously. I did this because I wanted them to be free posters of my main feature artist which would be a way to attract the audience, fans especially to buy the magazine.

In this lesson, I began to work on my contents page. I have layed down a black background so far and an orange top border, I will add the text and pages numbers then images. I still need to take more images so that I have a variety of shots and also I want to add more people. To help me with the layout I went on the internet and looked at some contents pages from other music magazine, to get some ideas.

In this lesson I shall continue working on my feature page. My teacher has given me some advise on things I need to change. I will begin by making sure that I add more purple as it is lacking in order for the page to look like it is following the colour scheme. I have been advised to change the tittle 'Talks About' to 'Fay Talks About', which is obvious so that that the audience know who I'm talking about and also I will make the tittle all black rather than all half white and the other half black (Talks About); looks more effective.

I worked on my feature page. I selected a picture that was suitable with the colour scheme of the front cover. I found it difficult to use the colours evenly and found that I didn't use much purple. This is something I must change in the next lesson.

[Fri 26 Feb 2010]

As I was blogging on publisher, I have had to create a blog account and transfer my previous blogs onto it. I also got feed back about my front cover and have tried to fix some of the problems for example enlarging the size of the magazine name in order for it to stand out more and also I have more features to fill majority of the space. I have made a start with my spread feature cover story and I have copied and pasted the text from my interview from publisher to Indesign, playing around with different texts and laying out ma page. I now need to add a picture and fix my text fonts.

DEADLINE FOR THE COMPLETE MAGAZINE COVER.

[Wed 10th Feb 2010]

I will put together everything I have been experimenting with together to try and complete the magazine cover. By the end of the lesson I hope to create an effective magazine cover that will be appealing to my target audience. I will the show it to a few people from the target audience and get some helpful criticism, in order to see what they like and what I can improve, so that I can amend for the next draft.

[Friday 5th Feb 2010]

I will shortlist the photos I took and add to the cover of the magazine. As the pictures taken are high quality I will not have to crop the picture as the hair will be rather difficult to crop but I will need to touch up the picture using the ‘healing’ tool to get rid of some marks on the face.

[Wednesday 3rd Feb 2010]

As I need to re-take photos for the magazine cover, I go to MRC (Media Resources Centre) and take some photos of my model. I will get help to learn how to use the digital camera and where to put the lighting so that my photos come out as profession as possible.

[Friday 29th Jan 2010]

In this lesson I will continue with what I was doing last week, by adding text and experimenting with different fonts for the features and also playing around with photos for the features.

[Wednesday 20th Jan 2010]

I have started my magazine front cover by adding my logo and some features. My aim by the end of today is to have and idea of what I want my front cover will look like including the colours.

[Friday 15th Jan 2010]

I tried to crop the picture I took for the front cover. I may have to take another picture because the picture I have is not stage managed enough. I also tried to play around with In design in order to become more confident with using the software.
